CHALICE FROM HOLY ETCHMIADZIN

A Chalice dedicated on the occasion of the 40th Anniversary of St. Vartan Cathedral was blessed and used at the Altar of the Cathedral of Holy Etchmiadzin for the first time during the celebration of the Divine Liturgy and was then used at St. Vartan Cathedral in NYC. Since then it has journeyed to the various Parishes in our Dioceses as a symbol of our unity as one Church and the unity of all the faithful who receive Holy Communion from this shared Chalice.

The Chalice will be used during celebration of Divine Liturgy at ACHT, Sunday, April 19, 2009

ACHT, Armenian Assembly, and National Assoc. for Armenian Studies & Research present:

THE CHANGING LANDSCAPE OF HISTORIC WESTERN ARMENIA:

REFLECTIONS ON A JOURNEY INTO THE PAST

By Dr. Richard G. Hovannisian

7:30 P.M.  at Armenian Church of the Holy Translators

Reception immediately following;  Open to the Public.

The landscape of Historic Western Armenia is ever changing. The mystical names of the villages, towns, and provinces of a now-vanished generation remain deeply imbedded in the minds and hearts of many descendants. But how similar are the imagined homeland and the existing landscape? After many years of hesitation, Dr. Richard Hovannisian set out on a quest to reconcile the “imagined” with the “real”. His travels took him through a part of the historic provinces from Trebizond on the Black Sea to Baibort, Erzerum, Kemakh, Agn, Kharpert, Dersim, Palu, Mush, Bitlis and Van.

He will present his impressions in an illustrated powerpoint program.
