APPROXIMATELY 500 ATTEND ACHT PICNIC
The skies were bright and clear for the Armenian Church of the Holy Translators annual picnic on Sunday, September 16, 2007. You couldn’t have asked for a better day. Approximately 500 people were in attendance.
Entertained by lively Armenian music, the band members consisted of Ron Tutunjian on dumbeg, Leo Derderian on oud and vocals, Carnig Mikitarian on clarinet, and Stepan Megerdichian on bass. Children were entertained by clowns, balloon making, sack races, and other games. Silent auction items including Patriot’s tickets, Red Sox bar stools, diamond cross, and more kept many entertained with upping bids to win the prize of their choice. And, of course, the Laborers’ Training Center has plenty of activities to keep anyone busy as people took advantage of the horse shoes, bocce ball, shuffle board, basketball, football, and just sitting at the picnic tables amidst the beautifully landscaped grounds.
Prepared foods were almost doubled this year and all was sold out by the end of the day with the kheyma being sold out earliest in the afternoon. Shish kebab, chicken kebab, losh kebab, and kheyma were the main draw for many who came to the picnic where the ACHT provides a tasty, full meal.
“Nothing can be accomplished unless you have amazing people working with you, and I was lucky enough to have a group of people who were willing to do anything in order to make this day such a success.” states Robin Palombo, picnic chairperson. Thank you to all who gave donations, to all our volunteers, to all who participated in this event and came to support the Armenian Church of the Holy Translators.
